Venice Biennale, SFSN@Venice Design 2016

SoFarSoNear is invited to exhibit at the prestigious ‘Venice Architecture Biennale 2016’. ‘Venice Design 2016’ is curated by the Global Art Affairs Foundations and will take place at Palazzo Michiel, on Canal Grande, from May 28th until November 27th. It is one of the first exhibitions to show current design developments during the Biennale. It brings together international set of designers of diverse cultural background, young, senior, established and emerging. The exhibition aims to demonstrate that design might have a bigger canvas than just creating beautiful functional objects. It is a chance for the spectators to see clever, unexpected solutions for the use of space and also to create a more conscious relation towards the daily surrounding and help to enlarge the awareness for the extraordinary impact design has on the way humans feel, reason and behave – in short, on their existence.

Participants from 17 countries come to present their ideas and stories: from the use of traditional 1000-year old techniques in modern days to the most innovative technological solutions available.

Their work shows how powerful an everyday piece can be and its ability to express and represent rituals, cultural particularities and embody human emotions.

SoFarSoNear has partnered with Sans Souci and Katherine Richards Design to create an amazing installation featuring unique copper textiles and luxury bespoke crystal creations.

Riflessioni-Venezia is the inspiration of the installation created by Katherine Richards: ‘The rich Venetian colours I have seen in Venice, the blue Gondola covers, the pure copper threads of SoFarSoNear and the crystal from Sans Souci were the inspiration for this installation which flirts with the playfulness of theatre.’
